-Latracia, Bowen High School student and YLC member. on why she is participating

“Day Without Hate is important to me because violence needs to subside in the city. Everyday people die. Police kill citizens, citizens kill citizens. People need to stop and re-evaluate. A day without violence is important for a healthy community.”

A march against violence and bullying in our neighborhood!

“I lost my cousin to violence…. He didn’t even get a chance to experience his life all the way and you can’t bring someone back to life after violence has come around. [We] stand together, united to… stop the violence for good for the next generation and the next generation to come.”

-Alceema, 8th grader at James M. Thorp Elementary

“Today, we come together to step forward in ending a war in our neighborhoods. Violence shouldn’t be a regular thing we see. We should be looking at our education and goals for our futures.”
